The History
Alice Leese grew up on the YT Ranch in West Texas, where she still lives and works as a part of the 4th generation on the ranch. The ranch was started in the late 1800’s by her great grandfather who came from Maine to the west driving a herd of sheep from Colorado to a Texas railhead called Odessa and homesteading there.
Alice paints the landscape in plein air and studio works. Her southwest landscape and landscapes of the ranch usually include cows, cowboys, windmills, wildlife, the oil field, and the people who live there.

A move south in 2008 was driven by the desire to be closer to the working ranches of the American Southwest. The high desert brought a unique set of challenges to outfit folks in volatile and unforgiving conditions.
