- Production Manager — Austin, TX (Full Time)
Job description
The Production Manager oversees the production lifecycle for all product categories from development handoff until goods are shipped. This role reports to Head of Product and is responsible for directly communicating vendor and production updates to the VP of Operations. The role is highly cross-functional; the right candidate can see the bigger picture, evolve department processes and efficiencies, and provide support and guidance to internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage the production calendar, WIP, and cost files, ensuring all information is kept up-to-date.
- Lead weekly production meetings with product and operations teams to deliver updates and ensure we are tracking with the production calendar.
- Manage negotiation and review of costing with vendors across all categories.
- Communicate changes in cost or margin concerns to product and operations weekly, and in some cases in real-time.
- Continuously work to reduce lead times, improve margins, and optimize the global supply chain.
- Own and maintain end-to-end PO tracking across the product portfolio, including accurate delivery dates, negotiating and approving freight quotes, providing packing lists to operations, and partnering with accounting and operations for variance reporting.
- Issue and track SMS and photo sample POs, ensuring on-time delivery.
- Own and manage the vendor routing guide and update as needed in partnership with operations.
- Provide feedback to the design team on costing, product needs, and vendor relationships.
- Liaise with planning, marketing, sales, and design on special projects and marketing initiatives to ensure required deliveries are met.
- Manage QC issues, both in production and after delivery to the warehouse.
- Take on other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in apparel sourcing and production; denim, activewear, and/or outdoor apparel experience a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to adapt to a highly entrepreneurial environment and respond to changes quickly.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a focus on driving positive results to the bottom line.
- Experience in garment costing (creating targets, counter-costing, and vendor negotiation).
- Experience working directly with factories and 3PLs/warehouses, managing vendor relationships, and onboarding new vendors.
- In-depth knowledge of technical construction and performance expectations for denim, activewear, and/or outdoor apparel.

- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends during peak seasons.

Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Continually able to stand/walk for extended periods of time, and be able to reach overhead, bend, squat, and kneel as you organize and stock inventory.
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service
- Able to lift up to 30lbs regularly
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be available to work weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), evenings and holidays as needed
